A Statement By The Artist
My work revolves around the idea of narrative painting
as a tool for self-exploration, that is, defining who
I am as an artist in this modern society. In my paintings
I depict people (the main protagonists) involved in
particular situations -- fictional -- yes, but strangely
familiar. My roots, history, memories, and concerns are
a fundamental part of my work. I've been living in the
United States for a few years, and elements of American
society also appear in my painting: buildings, streets,
the urban landscape, etc. Living in this country is a
fact I cannot ignore.
